Ah, I was reading your post differently so I misunderstood what you were saying. You DO tell the server where to look for books (or movies, or tv shows, etc), it doesn't just scan everything. Automation only happens after the locations have been defined by the user, in the form of folder paths. That's when it looks for expected filetypes (such as media files, folder.jpg and so on) in the location it's been told to look in.

It also requires that the locations be in the proper structures for various media types. It just so happens that the calibre library folders fit one of the acceptable structures for books, which is why people are trying to use those folders directly.

I'm trying to stay out of it on that end simply because I'm already involved in other areas of Media Browser and I don't want to take on this battle. There's only so much of me to go around. I also feel loyal to the CC app for android so I feel funny about it, even though the MB plugin isn't platform-specific. So for now I just continue to recommend the save to disk feature when the issue comes up.

I should have realised that from your comment about putting 'book folders inside a UNC share just like your other media folders' - I didn't join the dots.

I don't even use Calibre's bling, ie, grid and carousel views - and I strip covers from epubs with Modify, so I doubt MS3 will ever find a home here

cheers BR

We all must read these thing differently

I was thinking: 'Author',why not put a Mugshot (and other author related materials) into the Author level folder (in the current Calibre structure there are only Title(##) folders. The Authors folder is a Logical place for 'About Author' materials.
