Kindle PW 2 Pinhole Bright Light, Stuck Pixels, Please Enter

I've owned 4 and have seen a couple others that friends and family have. I have only seen one unit without pinholes and that one has light bleed on the lower right hand side of the screen.

I traded in my a Paperwhite 1 that had no pinholes so this has been quite disappointing.

It looks like a dead pixel that is a light and bright greenish color. They are typically noticeable at all times except in natural sunlight. That makes them much harder to see.

I've changed already two PW2, I'm waiting for the third one...
The bright "pixel" in the middle of the screen is really annoying.

Wow! I feel extremely lucky--I'm with Booklover6--The first PW2 I received seems perfect to me--no pinholes, color blobs, etc. I do notice a very small amount of light bleed around the edges in various lighting conditions, but it's very minor. Hope the rest of you who have received imperfect PW2s can get acceptable replacements!

I think small imperfections like dust particles would be less noticeable if my normal reading scenario weren't in complete darkness, with the pW2 at low lighting, and the device very close to me eyes.

ETA: I envy everyone who got a perfect PW2 from the get go - you are so lucky!

I am one of them. Got two perfect PW2s.

But then, as Sirmaru pointed out in another thread, PW2 5-star reviews outnumber 1-star reviews on Amazon's web site by over 16 to 1!

This does not say much IMHO because I gave it 3 stars last year while I was going through replacements, and will probably give it 3 stars this year as well, so just looking at 1 star reviews and disregarding the rest is misleading. I know a few people who will rate the same, simply because the PW is a great device, so it is tough to rate QC, which is horrid, alongside the actual device concept and functionality, which is great. 1 star would mean one really hates the PW, and at least here, that isn't the case even for those of use who have gone through numerous replacements.

Also, I now take 5 star reviews with a grain of salt, because some of the pictures I have seen from 5 star reviewers last year clearly had green-pink color blobs all over them, but the reviewers didn't see them. To them, they were 5 star devices, to me, they wouldn't have been. Sirmaru's PW1 is one such example

I take all of those ratings with a grain of salt. The only ratings that I usually pay attention to are the 3-4 star ones. Also, I have been satisfied with the two PWs that I have received (both a 1 and a 2). Don't know if they are "perfect" - I just know that I don't see nothing on either of them that distracts me or would cause me to send it back.

I just got another replacement kindle. There are no pinholes (finally) but the screen is so noticeably slanted up from the bottom right that I cannot believe anyone didn't catch this. Amazon quality control should be ashamed of themselves right now.

So sorry to hear your replacement has issues. Have you called Amazon up about this?

Yes I have. Getting a refund because for whatever reason Amazon cannot make the PW2. I don't think it's too much to ask for a screen without pinholes (I can accept dust particles because that's probably asking too much) and having the screen level.

Just wish I didn't sell my perfect (except the lights at the bottom) PW1. Oh well. I guess I'll just read on my iPad Air in a few days.

I was thinking of buying an iPad Air and cover myself with 32 Gb. What did you pay for it and where did you buy it?

It's not out yet. It will go on sale on Nov 1, and the prices will be the same everywhere, so a good place to check pricing is apple.com.
