Even in the deluxe cover or the shouldebag, the divice is not save against torsion. While the protective cover for bumps or objects towards the screen is very good, a twisting motion on the device can break the screen.

I am sorry for you R2D2.

Do I understand the poll results so far right?

From 11 people only 6 have not a broken screen??? That's insane!

I have no screen problems, I thought my deluxe cover would protect it well, but when I read

This worries me, so how should one transport his iliad in a safe manner?

How useful will a poll like this really be?

Do we know if the folks who frequent here are representative of the population that has bought an iLiad?

Also, with such a low number of responses, is the data useful?

(we need someone with some statistics background here....)

Not to mention the poll sounds biased and there are people who deliberitely might vote false for the lols

Not to mention that it doesn't take into account the time period the iLiad was in order before the Cracking Of The Screen...

But then I never understood the deeper sense of polls in forums like this anyway, insofar I'm going to vote "Not Cracked, Your Honor" .

I can understand the frustration of R2D2, though. My sympathies.

Cheers,
- Don [:-], who transports his iLiad in the shoulder bag, stuffed into a rucksack. Hmmm... maybe it's time to reconsider that method.

The reason for the poll is to get an idea about the numbers of broken iLiad screens. I had the impression that it is pretty easy to break it. And when mine broke whithout the environment being too ugly to the screen I wondered if this impression might be true and the iLiad not really fit for being carried around like every other electronic gadget with a screen on it.

And by the way: I do not think that people here are voting just for fun. And what's this about a biased poll? I don't ask people about their feelings, just about their screen state. Argh!

I had to pay 275 Euros to find that out.

Maybe iRex should warn customers about this.

That might be a "line out" error, which should be covered under warranty.

My Iliad was defect after 3 Weeks. a 4 cm vertical row was always darker.
It came back from repair without any comment. I think it is repaired by warrenty.
But the repair was really fast, 6 Days.
Greetings

There's usually a relatively high percentage of people with problems on community forums. The majority of people who's iLiads are working perfectly wouldn't have as much reason to be searching for places like this. It's not really a random sampling, you're getting a much higher number of "problem" users. So, no, a poll like this isn't really statistically useful.

The best source of this info would be iRex, assuming you trust their answer. Another option would be to go to a retailer that sells them and find out what their percentage of returns or support calls are. If I remember correctly, Tribble has said before that the number of broken screens his customers have complained about are a very small percentage of his total sales.
