There is a brand new version of Noteshelf with support for the creative stylus! Usually I wait a few days before downloading updates, but this time I couldn't wait, especially as the app has been a bit buggy since iOS7.
Palm recognition WORKS!!! I'm impressed. Pressure sensitivity is OK, the line width variations are more subtle than in the Wacom app, but they are still too marked to look natural. Not sure I will keep this on. In the settings you can choose to activate pressure sensitivity and/or palm recognition. You can also customize what the buttons do. Default value is nothing, which suits me fine ![]() |

Well, my enthusiasm lasted less than 5 minutes. First I turned off pressure sensitivity, then I found out that palm recognition creates problems with periods, accents and commas, which may be ignored. Noteshelf is normally pretty good at that and I never have problems with disappearing dots. So palm recognition is more trouble that it's worth. It doesn't really offer much more than the standard solution (a palm rest area that moves down automatically as you write) since I mostly just write one line after another and don't go back very often to correct or annotate previous writings.
So I guess I'll just go back to using my Wacom bamboo pen with Noteshelf, and try justifying the 100€ purchase by using the creative stylus with Procreate once in a while. In a word, it's now confirmed, I wasted 100€. Oh well. Last edited by FlorenceArt; 10-18-2013 at 03:18 PM. Reason: Typos! |

Yeah, I found that when I turned palm rejection on, it took ALL my strokes as a mistake.
![]() My favorite thing about the Noteshelf integration is that the button setup has loads of options, So my two main ones are undo and redo, and my hard presses are back and forth between pages. I think that's where it shines the most. |

I think I might change my mind about the usefulness of the Intuos pen - Noteshelf combination.
I just spent a few minutes exploring the new PDF functionalities in Noteshelf. Import of PDF documents was introduced recently and keeps getting improved with each new version. I hadn't really paid attention before, but actually these new functionalities are very well thought out. With the Intuos palm recognition, this could make Noteshelf the best iOS app for annotating PDFs. I think I will give it a try and see how well it performs over time. |
