I tried converting mobi to mobi. Vocabulary Builder worked just fine. However, the cover disappeared...

Edit: Oops. I forgot to tick Use cover from source file :d

When you convert your ebook with calibre "set your language, " and that: convert in mobi or in azw format and send to kindle, and you have a dictionary. (They also work with your personal document).

How do you see the ASIN in calibre? I don't see that field in the metadata.

Can you remove words from the Vocabulary Builder list? I often highlight the wrong word by accident.

It's the "IDs" metadata field. It'll appear in the form "mobi-asin:BXXXXXXXXX"

Harry what setting do I have to change to get Calibre to insert the asin in the azw3 file, for some reason I keep getting a strange long digit number instead of the asin?? For example my ASIN is there in the mobi-asin identifier field, yet after the file is converted, 0490ed66-5dc8-43e9-ba5a-9b40d02f46bc is what is inputted in the EXT113 field. If there is no way to do this in Calibre, is there a tool that will allow me to do this? Though I would prefer if I could get this to work in Calibre.

Hopefully I can get this to work so that Amazon will recognize my non-Amazon books on my pw2 for collections.

@nynaelavan, did you see my post where we were discussing this?

I've run into this problem when converting from mobi to azw3.
On searching around the Launchpad.net bug tracker and Mobileread, I have discovered Kovid doesn't like the idea of putting ASIN into a MOBI/AZW3 because it makes the book screw around with Amazon's server data and you end up with a book that potentially hates you.

We will have to use mobi2mobi, or else finally write that plugin several people threatened to make which allows calibre to write the ASIN instead of the UUID. Might be worth it to pluginize this if it can solve the now-dreaded Kindle Collections problem.

No I didn't. I have been googling trying to find and figure out how to use the mobi2mobi, so far no luck.

I was using the MobiMetaEditor tool, but this is a little hard to use since it will not let you switch to a new book without closing it and starting again. Not very user friendly when you have multiple files to work with.

Can you point me to where I can get the mobi2mobi file and will it work on Win7 64 bit? Does it work on azw3 files, which are what my files are.

Turn off Vocabulary Builder

I turned off Vocabulary Builder entirely. It was filling up with at least 10 common word for every word I would have liked to save.

Thus, it became useless for me.

Why were you looking up "common words" in the first place?

I have no idea how they got there.

I never looked up those words and do not understand how they got there. Perhaps, they were picked up when I was highlighting or adding notes or simply tapping the screen to turn pages.

Amazon needs to improve that Vocabulary Builder module to require confirmation to add words to it. In the meantime I simply leave it turned off.

Dictionnary and Vocabulary

Hello,
Did you finally find a solution to this problem ?
- I found one for pdf converted to mobi (with calibre): under calibre, the only thing you have to do is to set the field language, both dictionnary and Vocabulary Builder will work if you transfer via cable.
- For .txt files you have to convert it to mobi book as well (and also set language with calibre I guess) to send it via cable (but then I have a pb with the font with ß). Or you can send it directly as txt file through kindle email, works well, no font pb.
- For mobi books without ASIN, the only solution I found was to send it through kindle email or reconvert it to mobi under calibre as you said.

Is there any solution to set automatically an ASIN for each book in the Calibre Library ?

The Quality Check plugin has an option under the "Fix" submenu to embed an ASIN, using the following identifiers in descending order of importance:
  • mobi-asin
  • asin
  • calibre's UUID
