I live in Mexico and read in English. I can get ebooks without waiting for six weeks and without paying horrendous shipping and taxes.
When I'm out and about instead of carrying two books, a book weight, and index cards I can just carry a Kindle. |

I always carry around two or three books, clearly an ereader makes this easier.
I also love ebooks because public domain books are now truly in the public domain. |

Mainly I love that ebooks are so much cheaper than paper, I can afford to read what I really want to read rather than being limited mainly to what I can find second hand.

I don't live close to any bookstores. Ebooks allow me to get books at any time of day, without needing an hour+ drive to the nearest city, or waiting two weeks or more (which I'm doing right now for some cookbooks and a few secondhand books that I can't get in e format) for them to arrive in the mail. Ereaders and ebooks have been magic for someone like me who can read a lot.
They also take up no physical space (which I'm running low on anyway) and only a teensy bit of space on my hard drives. |

On the one hand, I love ebooks, for all the stated reasons.
Small and light. Adjustable fonts. Lighted reader. Don't take up any space. Instant delivery. Spine never cracks, paper never tears. As long as an e-reader displays the file correctly, the book will always be in perfect condition. Easy to backup; don't lose your books in case of water, fire or smoke damage. Cheaper than paper books (if you know where to look), or even free. So many advantages over paper. On the other hand, I feel something is lost when reading ebooks, and I become greedy and Wanna-Have when I see stuff like this (hardcovers and such): http://www.barnesandnoble.com/s/?series_id=577536 Way more beautiful than any ebook ever could be. Because they don't take up any physical space. I can buy loads of them without my partner finding out lol. I can carry thousands of them around at the same time and access any one of them in seconds. They are easier to buy. They are customisable in terms on font and font size, line spacing, words on a line etc.

Because having to travel with a hardcover fantasy book is impossible
Because I can read while my boyfriend is asleep (or the other way around) Because I can hold my ereader in one hand (gotta hold my teacup in the other!) |

Ebooks are easier to travel with, you can change the font size, they don't take up physical space, and they don't fall apart like paper books! All good reasons to like ebooks.

I can take hundreds, even thousands, of books with me everywhere, using only a tiny amount of physical space and hardly any weight.
Instant gratification. BIG fonts so I don't have to reach for the reading glasses. Look, ma, no hands! (Autoscroll) Ever tried reading a paper book while blow drying your hair? One tap dictionary. All my favorite quotes consolidated in one place. No more wrist pain from holding books open. They take up no space in my small house and never need dusting. |

1a) they're always in my pocket, which goes along with 1b) I no longer have to lug a heavy book around in my bag "just in case".

Oh, I forgot an important one… no wondering what that gross smear is on the pages of library books. Now all iPad smears are my own. :-)
True story… my husband and I got on a Dean Koontz kick before ereaders and proceeded to work our way thru his huge back catalog from the library. I am totally serious when I say that EVERY Koontz book we checked out had boogers in it. Eventually I started buying paperbacks from the library's discount rack, and those had boogers, too! I was so overjoyed when we got thru the old ones and then I would have to hurry up and be the first one to request the new ones before--whoever--got their grubby hands on them. It was so gross. My husband and I use to make up stories about this person, whoever it was… creepy… just like a Koontz villain. |

Yes.. I was going to mention another fact why I like E-Books vs P-Books is the fact they are germ Free.. I go to Barnes and Noble etc.. buy a new book and always pick the one in the back of the stack.. no boogers or sneezes etc.. (hopefully).. a very good way to catch lots of diseases..
