Perhaps this is a stupid question, but why does it need a battery?

This pen uses bluetooth to communicate to your device, not just for palm rejection. That's how you get the thin stylus tip=thin lines.

What xendula said is correct.
I don't get the whole palm rejection thing though. I think that has to do with the SDK in general. Like if you're writing, and your palms are at the side, it's most likely to pick up the pen and not your palms? It's weird. Last edited by Jessica Lares; 10-08-2013 at 09:35 PM. Reason: Typo |

My favorite "dumb" stylus is the TruGlide Precision Pro. The microfiber tip is fabulous, and you can also buy a brush tip for it.
http://graphicssoft.about.com/od/iph...-Stylus_17.htm I'm in the process of reviewing the three popular pressure-sensitive "smart" stylus pens that are out now. Hope to have them done this month. So far, palm rejection seems to be a pipe dream for art apps where need multi-touch gestures. I read a great tip for "poor man's" palm rejection on the Procreate forum. Buy a pair of butler gloves, double them up, and cut off all the fingers except the pinkie. http://procreate.si/forums/index.php?topic=1960.0 Keeps your screen clean, too! |

Most apps don't have palm rejection. Most apps have a usually very cumbersome palm rest area that you have to move around. Palm rejection means that when you put your hand on the screen to write, the app magically recognizes it's your hand and not the stylus, and therefore ignores it.
Apps with palm rejection that I know of: Wacom notes, which in the latest version is almost flawless. Unfortunately that version is iOS7 only, and the last version to be compatible with iOS6 was completely broken in that area. Other, less successful ones are Jotter and its sister app Scrapnote, and Penultimate. Can't think of any others at the moment. That said, in my limited experience with the Wacom Intuos stylus, a Bluetooth stylus does not improve palm recognition in the slightest. Maybe others work better... |

Yes, Noteshelf has a palm rest area (not palm rejection), the only one that actually works IMO, because it goes down automatically as you write. That's one of the reasons Noteshelf is, for me, the best app for the pure writing experience. The other reason is the handwriting engine which is the most fluid and natural I have seen so far. Noteshelf is the only app where my handwriting actually looks like my handwriting. |

The makers of my favorite regular stylus (TruGlide--mentioned above) now have a kick-starter project for an electronic fine-tip stylus. Doesn't sound like it is pressure sensitive, but it will work in all apps.
