And then, there is a chance that I will act as the importer for my country. But keep in mind, if I am doing the importing, they will not come ashore without the sources to the firmware. For myself, I am only interested in after-market modification friendly devices. So with thousands of models to choose from, lets get some eyes on that device list and some real suggestions here (and why). Also note that many of those may include a "Private Label Logo" - Maybe a picture of a little boy under a tree, holding up the middle finger of his right hand. |

Whilst works have been undertaken. nothing has raised it head yet.
Personally, not having said device, I can only speculate what might be achieved with the tools we have to hand. |

Today's Picks
A dual-core, touch-screen, micro-sd card, wifi, Android, "K4":
http://www.alibaba.com/product-gs/92...2013_with.html First general support site found (probably better ones to be found): http://linux-sunxi.org/Main_Page For those who love a keyboard: http://www.alibaba.com/product-gs/10...ok_Reader.html - - - - There are over 5,000 listings - somebody put some eyes on that list. I can't read them all. ![]() |

I think I'd feel a little more confident of them if they could at least agree about the size. Are they 170*120*10.2mm as in the original specs or 192*125*11mm as described a little lower down? Optional resistive touch screen and optional wifi? Are these things built to order?

twobob posted a proposed "Private Logo" in a prior post to this thread. The second link: http://www.alibaba.com/product-gs/10...ok_Reader.html Is a listing of a "Trading Company" not of the original manufacturer. Looks like a "K2" with touch screen, dual core processor, micro-sd card, wifi, etc. I think I have seen that in a 9 (10) inch "DX" style also. In a case like that, I would search out who is building them, deal with the manufacturer. So in second case "yeah, probable BTO is possible". Yup - here it is: http://www.alibaba.com/product-gs/69...ite_Front.html so: BTO ? Yes A front-lighted, touch-screen, wifi, dual-core, 256MB MDDR, micro-sd card, "K2" (black or white). Of course, as I posted above, I would want to import the firmware sources along with the devices (one of the reasons for finding the manufacturer). - - - - PS - - - - Thanks for the feedback. I am sure many people think I am joking, I am not. Last edited by knc1; 09-30-2013 at 01:36 PM. |

Chian is closed.
At least until after the 7th of the month.
So a few opinions on the 5,000+ things on that shopping list link posted above would be nice to have before they un-roll the sidewalks and go back to work. |

Hmm
http://www.alibaba.com/product-gs/84...android_4.html looks like it could be good, though no light mentioned, only problem is until someone has a unit we don't know about: 1) root access 2) if a custom recovery could be created/flashed. (I did some recovery building ages ago, I'll happily revisit it if it's of interest to people) 3) gapps (google apps), it's highly unlikely it will come with them installed, but if we can get either (1) or (2) from above then they could (in theory) be added 4) app installation if it can be done, if it has to be done via adb etc 5) Developer Options (necessary for adb) I'm sure there are more but those are the ones I can think of off the top of my head. Sorry if that's confusing for anyone, I'm just putting down things we might want/need for other devices people are interested in developing for. Android is an OS I have "played about with" quite a bit so can finally put some information forward and should be able to help out at least a little bit now. If any dev's want to ask for more information about any of the above (assuming they don't already know it all anyway) please feel free to ask ![]() |

Looks like a reasonable possibility to me.
A front-lighted version would be nice, but maybe they make those also. (The English translated descriptions sometimes leave a bit un-described. ![]() |

Number 5,100
Well, another 100 posts.
Thanks everyone for the kind words. I have answered a few questions, made a few jokes, did my usual "Cheerleading" (encouragement) thing, helped the Kpw2 Jailbreaking project by providing some supporting resources. A busy 100 posts. ![]() |
