Neither. I have and prefer a linux phone for the flexibility, configurability, ease of access from other devices, and and availability of wonderful tools that have been around for decades that can be run in pipelines.

I have an Android Note 2. I'd far prefer an iPhone again. That's just me I guess.

I had an Android but I didn't really like it. I now have an iPhone and I really do like that.

I have a fairly new android phone that I dislike, mostly due to the keyboard. My GF has an iPhone 5 and the typing experience is like a dream compared to the android phones I've owned. I can't wait to get rid of this thing and get an iPhone, or Windows Phone. Actually I may go back to a non-smartphone altogether and just get something with a physical keyboard. I don't really use the smart aspects of my phone.

Why don't you install one of the gazillion free or paid keyboards from the Android market?

I bought my very first EVER phone less than 2 months ago. It's an android smartphone because I love android. It's a google smartphone (nexus 4). But it is not my primary device for reading... I do read some on it, but most of the reading is done on my T2 or Samsung android tablet)

Oh, I've tried a gazillion of them, and all of them have sucked. However, since writing that post I have installed Google Keyboard, which apparently was released by them fairly recently, and so far it seems very promising and I'm rather happy about it. |

To me, it's all the same. If a keyboard (or a program) is different from what I'm used to, I'll figure it out and get used to it quickly enough, assuming that said piece of software doesn't have some sort of quirck that just annoys the hell out of me.
Wanting to hide all interface elements all the time, which seems to be the current rage (see Firefox for Android, for example), is one of those. I DON'T want my programs to start hiding stuff from me whenever they feel like it, especially when I constantly need that stuff. (There is an option to display the address bar continously, but there is no such options for the tabs, which I also want to be open all the time.) |

I actually discovered it from an article in Business Week about how the keyboard software is provided by the phone manufacturer or other third party, and that Google's own KB was limited to 'their' own hardware until recently. I imagine keyboards made by the same maker as the OS are more refined, explaining why the typing experience is better on iOS, Windows, and Google hardware like the Nexus. So it wasn't really an Android issue, per se, or at least it isn't anymore, for me anyway.
