Thanks to all for their very helpful comments.
I normally download in Firefox but that day I used IE and once again it showed me that Firfox is better for most things.

Thanks to Sabardeyn, itimpi and all.

Big thanks to kovidgoyal for Calibre and the great help it has been to me.

No, not the insurer (Geico??); Gecko is Mozilla Foundation's rendering engine which Firefox (and some others browsers, etc) is built with. Very cryptic, but was meant as a follow on for BR, regarding his post mentioning Mosaic and Safari.

@cager: It was not an issue of Internet Explorer's (edit: nor Chrome's which also took the same action) but rather one of a missing or incorrect Content Type at the server (see Kovid's post). It appears that Internet Explorer (edit: and Chrome), in this case, was more rigorous in its handling of Content Type and any data sniffing to determine actual content in order to reduce the risk of cross site exploits and other potential security issues, and perhaps standards compliance too. As far as I know, IE has become more rigorous in this respect since IE8 or 9. As to how Firefox handles these issues I have no idea as it is not a browser that I use.

AnotherCat,
I knew that. Just figured I might as well make the attempt at humor for what was a darn near-perfect straight line for a Gecko/Geico transposition. And how can you not like a "thrown under the bus" smiley?

Was of two minds as to whether you had or not.

Too many cats get run over by buses, but it seems I have just been deservedly so .
