Last newspaper I bought was to line the bird cage. Fortunately, my neighbors get the Tribune and the NY Times, so Kiwi gets free carpeting now.

It's been a long time since I read a physical newspaper. On the other hand I do subscribe to two local digital editions: The Edmonton Sun and The Edmonton Journal. Approx. $10 each/month well spent.

I get the Globe and Mail delivered every day. I spend enough time at the computer every day, so spending some time away from the screens is nice. The paper also lies flat on the table, making it easy to read while eating.

Recycling for me is a breeze. I stack the papers into a pile during the week, and then throw them into a special blue bag we use here in Vancouver when setting them out. Does it get more complicated elsewhere, or is the collecting and stacking the hard part?

The last newspaper I bought was 13 years ago. We have no local paper, but my parents have one where they live, so I would get their paper, if I was interested. It was mostly for coupons and some local news. Now, I just keep up by watching local news that does now include my area.

I also get a free twice weekly paper in my town. I cut coupons I might use and the rest goes in the bottom of my Chinchilla's cage and recycled to my comp pile for my garden. I do look at Target, JC Penney, Best Buy and a few other inserts for household and Blue-ray deals of the week.

We're newspaper junkies in my house. We buy 2 national dailies Mon to Sat plus the occasional one on Sunday. In addition I pick up the free evening paper on my way home during the week. And if that's not enough we also have 3 weekly papers - one we buy and the other 2 are freebies. When we've finished with them they go in the recycling bin for collection.

I prefer to read my news from a paper as I find reading on a monitor or LCD screen hard on my eyes.

It's probably been 10 years for us, although that was only the Sunday paper, and we never read much in it. Too many advertisement and stale news. We only gave it a try because it was on sale.

Before that, pretty much never. My parents still get their small town paper, and I'd read it when I lived at home, and now while visiting. Not much has changed. Still mostly stale news and 95% advertisement. I just can't get interested.

It's been at least 10 years, maybe fifteen. And it was probably just because the paper was running an article on the anime convention my friends and I started (OTAKON).

The local paper has been delivered each day all summer because I fell for a telephone sales spiel which promised a free restaurant coupon. But I tossed the envelope with the coupon assuming it was junk mail. I tried to cancel after realizing that, since I never read it, it is a waste of money, but apparently I agreed to a three-month contract. When the contract is up next week, I'm done. Plus, now I have a resentment even though getting tied in was my own fault. So this is my last newspaper subscription ever.

It's too bad that newspapers are failing because they serve a purpose. Unfortunately, it is a purpose that is no longer immediately useful to me.

Well, just watch out it doesn't nibble on it. The paint (print, dunno how it is called) can be very harmful if they eat it. I had "Piggy", it was gentle and smart. Oh, memories. RIP...

I bought a newspaper a month ago, on holiday, and enjoyed reading while having coffee. Still would buy it every Friday if it was available here.
