Taming; while you might get a broken version in comparability mode, at least it's a version where the Free-Books links function as expected.

Yes, I should have mentioned that. http://www.kobo.com/free-ebooks in IE10 compatibility mode works just like it should.

Edit: For people who do not want to do this, wherever there is a choice to sort, one of them is to sort by price low to high. It will return free books first within that category or list. I think it is easier to do.

Another edit: Try this. Type classics into search. Sort by low to high price. You will get a bunch of books without proper covers, but then choose one of the categories on the side list (I chose fiction and literature). You will now have free books (tons of them) in that category listed first. This works in any browser. You can also do the same kind of sort using any of the categories directly.

Disclaimer: I am not saying this is better than the old free listing, by any means. It does though let you do a focused search on the kind of book you are most likely to be interested in that returns free books.

I start wondering if maybe we need to get either a letter, or petition listing our concerns together and deliver it to Kobo management?

I've just tried using the free book link in Firefox, the page that opens says free books but when I click on the Sci Fi genre the books have got prices on.

They know about our concerns. They have other priorities. It is arrogant and probably nothing we can change.

But at what level do they know? Product management or at the CxO level?

VP level, for sure. I also know that this kind of discussion will start showing up on search and that the bloggers will pick it up. That can be a powerful way to get their attention.

And they wonder why people buy Kindles. I was tempted with an Aura but reading on Mobileread has alerted me to these issues so I'm staying with Amazon, they seem to know what they are doing.

Josie, you can go practically forever and not run into most of these issues--especially if you are reading narrative fiction and non-fiction. I have purchased 297 books from Kobo. I always download the epub as well, for archive purposes. I have had other problems, but not one involving a lack of availability in non-kepub format. Not that it couldn't happen, of course.

Also remember that you are reading some pretty angry things from me and others who continue to use and enjoy our Kobo devices. When something is wrong (from our perspectives) we write about it here. People are not entirely happy with kindle devices either.

I do understand Taming, and accept what you are saying, and maybe one day I will get a Kobo, this year it's nearly been the Aura, but frequenting this forum unfortunately alerts a person to the worst side of a company/device. As you say many people are dissatisfied with Kindles and Amazon but luckily for me I have had nothing but pleasure with my multiples Kindles since I purchased the first one in 2010.
