I just tried this trick with the Wool omnibus, which I got with the Kobo coupon code. It worked! I don't know if it had DRM or not, but it did work. It also worked on the Chronicles of Master Li and Number One Ox, which I know is DRM free.

(The download for this book said EPUB, but downloaded a kepub book.)

It also makes sense that if Blackberry is listed as a device the book is available as a non kepub. Kobo currently does not have a Blackberry app.

Just for info - my BB Playbook has a native Kobo ereader app. The app ships with the device and was part of the initial Playbook software when first released.

I think the new BBs with the new OS do not. Kobo's relationship with BB used to be a big deal for both of them.

Will kpubs open up in Adobe Digital? That's how I always download my Kobo purchases, direct into Adobe. Then I take the Adobe file into Calibre.

No. Kepubs only open in the Kobo application.

You can read them on any Kobo device, on your computer using the Kobo desktop applications, or on a tablet with the Kobo app installed, but not on any device that doesn't have a Kobo application, which means any non-Kobo e-ink device is out. I own a Nook Simple Touch, which doesn't have apps, so the kepubs are useless to me.
