Pocket Comes to Kobo

I just got a semi-official reply from Kobo:

The Pocket is not built into the Kobo Touch as it uses a different firmware than some of the latest eReader editions to the Kobo line. However it will always support all the eBooks from our Kobo Library. Read On, Xi!

Not surprising since the touch didn't get the latest firmware either (although you can sideload it on).

All the kobo touch style readers will be getting the pocket update.

Pocket for Touch and Mini has not been implemented or beta tested yet. I would not expect it in the next round of FW updates.

Its not the official statement of Kobo. Pay more attention to the real Kobo posts.

Where is the official statement from Kobo? The only statement I've seen that says it will be available on ALL devices is the one from Pocket. The one that said it would be out on September 13.

It's a statement from the official Kobo Facebook account. You may be able to sideload the future Glo firmware onto the Touch, but I wouldn't count on it working. It even sounds like it's going to take a bit for it to come to the Glo, although Pocket said it'd be available on the Aura and Aura HD today. Who knows!

was going to buy a toch today - happy to have googled for the pocket integration before... for me the premium for the glo is not worth the feature.

From the release:

"The integration with Pocket is available as part of Kobo’s enhanced Reading Life platform in the Articles from Pocket section on the Kobo Aura 6” eReader, and on Kobo Arc 10HD, Kobo Arc 7 and 7HD tablets."

I see that Pocket has posted an update on their site about availability on other kobo devices:

(Update: As of Monday, September 16th, Pocket will be available on the Aura, and updates to existing devices including the Glo and Aura HD will be coming over the coming weeks and months. To check support for additional Kobo eReaders, please contact Kobo Support.)
