i agree.

i have done some experiments.the nook bezel could be replaced by solar cells as well as the back.

also a thin flip over cover could be covered with thin solar cells.

in this way the battery would be charged as you read.

the FLIP OVER would have a duel fubction in that you can hold the nook with using your thumb.

The solar cells would almost unquestionably cost a heck of a lot more than the savings in electricity. And how many people are away from power for the several weeks that the typical eInk device will last on a battery charge?

I have a TI calculator that has a solar cell. My dad brought it home in the early 1990's. It has been working ever since, which is pretty good for a thing that originally cost only $30. It uses Anylite solar-cells so that it can be usable in most light settings.

It's just nicer to not EVER have to plug it into your computer or to a wall.

The biggest issues would be placement, and then the fact that they'd have to be pretty big. But these devices use little energy to begin with, so I think if the research was done, they would make it happen.

Solar garden lights cost £1 or less.they have a battery and inverter and solar cell and circuit board.

all for less that a pond.

so cost is not an issue.

i bought a 2 inch by 4 inch panel from ebay for a fiver.

gives about 50 milliamps at 9 volts.
