You need to enter your searches then to right of the search bar give them a name and click the icon to save them.
Time for bed now. |

I'm afraid I did that, and when I visit the web interface to select saved searches, I get 404 errors on all of them. Regardless of what tags are used, what the virtual library is titled.
I've tried various tag combinations but they all fail, so I can't seem to isolate the issue. Thanks for your help! ![]() "Unknown error in saved search: tags" But there are no symbols, just text in every title/tag. There is something seriously wrong with saved searches, every single one is failing. Even from calibre GUI - not the web interface. They are getting saved wrong (tags) and that unknown error is the only message I'm seeing. No idea how to proceed now, sorry. I am copying the search syntax exactly from how it's returned with an advanced search (which works just fine). Last edited by soundsfromsound; 08-16-2013 at 01:36 PM. |

I dont know what it is you are doing, but here is how you create a saved search.
1) Do the advanced search, make sure it is working and calibre is showing the correct restricted list of books 2) Click the plus icon to the right of the search bar 3) Your search will now exist in the Tag Browser under Searches and in the content server |

Hi Kovid,
I tried your method and the advanced search did save correctly as a saved search. And that saved search did show up correctly in the web interface, which is awesome. I was confused because when I read earlier in the thread that virtual libraries are essentially just "saved searches", I went looking for them and I think that's what messed me up. I tried to re-add them or something. Sorry about that. I understand how to create saved searches from this point on, for new libraries but just to confirm, if you have virtual libraries that already exist, in order for them to show in the server interface: you need to then go "edit" the VL, copy/paste the search expression into the search bar of calibre and then "save" that as your saved search? That's what I just did now, and it worked, it was just very confusing to get here lol. Is there some way to automatically translate/transfer virtual libraries = saved searches without this manual method? That would also clean up the web server interface too, i.e. "Music Books", "Manuals", etc. vs. search expressions maybe? Either way, I'm happy I got saved searches working!! Thanks! Yes, that is the way you do it. I suppose I could have the content server simply list virtual libraries, if no startup virtual library is specified.

Ok, I understand what you're saying.
If you could enable a virtual library list from the content server that would be sweet! ![]() Thanks! |
