Well, the Reader's Digest books are versions of works where parts are actually missing. The short bios would at least be complete original books (I presume), and really all biographies are condensed accounts. A truly unabridged account of someone's life would be quite lengthy.

This brings back memories! My gran used to have loads of Readers Digests and keep them in a mahogany sideboard along with her Mills and Boon books from the library! I only found out the other day that my Mum didn't realise Gran read M & B !
