I only had one to take apart, so it was too late to be sure if this works...
Remove the bezel first. That will give you access to the four tabs that hold the rear cover on. You MAY be able to release them without breaking them. |

In post #11 I talked about my experience with a broken K4... how I managed to destroy the greyscale portion, leaving only black and white. There are images later in the thread illustrating what I was talking about. The thing is, that disconnecting the battery and reconnecting it brought the greyscale BACK!!! The screen is still broken, so most of the device is garbage, but that little chunk of information, that connecting the battery last just might make the difference... How about it guys? IS that even possible or was it just coincidence? I was on the verge of tossing... well, donating this to one of the devs here, but now... I wonder if I could get a K4B with a broken screen... ![]() (sigh) Well... maybe not THAT important. If you can't duplicate the results, the most likely answer is coincidence. Repeated efforts to "break" the screen down to black'n'white mode, instead of greyscale, have all failed. The portion of the screen that still works, still works beautifully. I still agree that hooking up the battery last makes sense, but I no longer think it's essential. (sigh) Last edited by SampleAndy; 08-18-2013 at 03:39 AM. Reason: added last paragraph |
