+1

There are a lot of books available. If one isn't available, I move on to the next.

All the previous books in the series were published concurrently in the U.S. and the U.K., as the author's U.K. publisher has a U.S. side. This time, book nine is out and they still haven't published book eight here. I've received absolutely no response when I've contacted them to ask if there are plans to publish the rest of the series on this side of the pond. Apparently they aren't interested in customers here.

That publisher will not bring out an English version in my case --- or the book may never even be published here.

It may be a matter of if the author sold the rights to the newest book to the same publisher here or if they and their agent are shopping around trying to get more $$$ for the rights (they don't automatically go to the US division of the same pub) in this region especially since it looks like there are no US pbook versions either. Very seldom are rights sold worldwide which is why we have to deal with the crap that is geo-restrictions. BTW, I'm not saying don't buy it from the UK, just that the only one who might care is a US pub who eventually bought the rights, hence the

Also Sony's Reader for PC site .... in Preferences change your country to the UK. However you'll need to pay in UK money if you use that method.

Like others have mentioned in this thread, Kobo is very easy to change your country.

Edit

The Kobo Aus site is showing series: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and War Master's Gate.

If you buy from Kobo after your changing your country to Aus then you will be charged in AUD - but don't worry because the exchange is in the USD favour at the moment.

As an extra precaution (to prevent anyone from discovering that you are frequently purchasing from another country): get a VPN for the country you're purchasing books from.

Are you trying to get only the kindle version? You know you can convert from epub with Calibre, right? I use Diesel and Kobo for a different books and find them generally cheaper than Amazon anyway, but I'm buying with an Australian credit card. Barnes & Noble won't sell to me because I'm not in the USA, as well as there being restrictions in the US. It's all about distribution rights, buying and selling readers. Not in the interests of a world economy.

Honestly there is no excuse, if a book is available in the USA or UK and not Australia. There is nothing they need to do to make it suitable for an Australian. The language is english, and the USA would have more if any restrictions on content than Australia.

Not really....if I buy an ebook from a Oz or Brit site, which is unavilable Stateside, I'm not going to buy it again when/if it becomes available here. Vice versa. Even with a different publisher selling the title here, they wouldn't have lost a sale if got what I went after before tey acquired the rights to sell here.
