I have read the book of Mormon, the king james Bible and (skimmed) the koran. I believe no matter what you believe you should embrace all viewpoints before deciding for yourself. My book suggestion stands. It is really facinating...

There's that Church Handbook of Instructions uploaded by Wikileaks in PDF format. :-) Unfortunately, Wikileaks has temporarily suspended operations to focus on fundraising. A worthy cause, to be sure.

I *was* an atheist - for about 30 years - and I'm now a member of the LDS church. I fully appreciate the atheist, agnostic and humanist views. If I hadn't found a home in the LDS church, I'd still be atheist. Even so, it is somewhat presumptuous - rude even - to recommend a book of atheist thought to someone who's asking for a guide to good LDS e-literature. Or did you somehow fail to understand the title of this thread???

As for bigotry, who are you to be questioning the ethnic profile of the LDS church? Sure, I'm 'white', but that means nothing to me in relation to my fellow Brothers and Sisters in our shared faith. (Granted, the U.S. membership is probably heavily non-latino caucasian, but the same is not true for membership in South America, the Pacific Islands, Japan & Far East Rim countries or Africa - all of where we have a strong membership growth profile.) So, on that issue you're being rude again - without cause.

Further, if you happen to live in northern European countries, you can probably find plenty of churches with purely caucasian memberships. Are you planning to wave the racism flag at them?

No, the book discusses issues NOT related to the topic of the OP. The OP was asking for a better set of reference material for e-book readers. Reference material specific to Mormon members.

But that's NOT what the OP asked for. (And, like, wow. So you read the JKV Bible. Have you by any chance noticed THAT is the OT and NT standard for the LDS church??? And I've not 'skimmed' the Qur'an, I've read it from cover to cover. And discussed it with others. And would NEVER embrace it.)

I don't think he means the ethnic makeup of the membership-- I think he means-- for example-- this:

Oh yeah... THAT outmoded doctrine. Y'know... it would be nice if the anti-LDS crowd would at least *recognize* that the church has changed over the years. And it would be nice to admit that Christian, Muslim and other faiths have espoused slavery to be right and proper - based on skin color, would you believe it? - many times over the past centuries. But what gets me is that NO ONE stood up 'way back when' and shouted "I'm an atheist and atheism is foursquare against slavery and racism!"

The Mormon church does not, today, espouse or practice racism or hold to racist policies. And if one is going to haul off and hit the LDS church for this, then why not hit Muslims for their faith's similar past beliefs?

Thank you. I'm hoping to keep this on topic still. Here is a resource for lots of different ebooks..

Also, the new LDS Library lets you output anything to pdf. It's not epub, but it's a start.

One year later . . . back to the topic, which by now is proving to be more than relevant, considering the massive sales figures for electronic readers, and the great, ongoing improvements.

I have a Kindle and love using it for LDS books and books by LDS authors. If anyone is interested, I can list a few on here, but not sure if anyone is still following the thread.

Most of the Stephen Covey books are available as Kindle books. They aren't LDS per se, but he's Mormon and his "philosophy" is colored by his religious beliefs. Anyway, a friend of mine is Mormon, and he has mentioned the books in a Mormon context, so I hope they're relevant here.

Oh yes, absolutely. There are many other great books for the national market by LDS authors that don't mention the Church, but are exciting, clean stories. Books by Gordon Ryan, for example. He's written some excellent political suspense novels among others. Check him out on Kindle for some 99 cent deals.

Other LDS authors include Rachel Ann Nunes, David Wolverton, Jennie Hansen, Orson Scott Card, Gerald Lund, Jack Weyland, G. G. Vandagriff, Annette Lyon, Josi Kilpack, Julie Wright, Tristi Pinkston, Jeff Savage, and many, many more.

If you go to http://www.ldstorymakers.com you can find a long list of LDS authors who write in a variety of genres. And, of course, there are more who are not on this list. In my opinion, these days, the standard of writing from the majority of LDS authors is excellent.

I'm LDS and love my iPad. Am also looking forward to getting an iPhone now that it is available for Verizon!

I also just finished my first novel. It isn't 'Mormon' directly, but I tried to reach a broader audience by including moral values and themes. I also used memories from my mission to give it variety as well (went to ... Hawaii on my mission

Anyways, if you are looking for a clean and interesting fiction novel, check out Gold Stars for the Kindle or Nook. If you don't want to pay the $3 but are interested in reading it, I would be happy to send you a PDF. I am much more interested in getting the word out than making money right now.

Cheers!
