To bring this to a conclusion, I called Amazon and explained that I had a broken K3 (both of mine are the wifi versions). Amazon offered me a refurb PW for $83 and some change. I just got an email that it will come in next week. Also ordered a Fintie dual color case for it... which should be here today.

BTW, I didn't know Amazon had changed the 3g feature. Although we don't have Kindles with 3g, I'm curious what Amazon did to restrict the feature.

3G data transfer from the web browser is now restricted to 50MB/month (which is probably sufficient for its intended use). No limits using WiFi, obviously.
