That's amazing. I wouldn't have dreamt that such a thing was possible. It's like having a built-in reference of quotations for all the books on the reader.

When you type a serie of words ("It was the best of times"), does it match the exact word string or each individual word?
I imagine that the longer the string, the longer the search... The index must also be awfully big, which could be an issue with the limited storage space on the Kindle... |

I've just tested it on my Kindle PW. I opened a book at random, chose a phrase (which happened to be "she lingered awhile at the dark blue front door"), returned to the home screen, and then searched for that phrase. The search took about 15s and returned only the exact match for that phrase. I have 748 books on my Kindle at the moment.

The speed is alright then I guess. It's nice that it returns a match for the exact phrase. I assume many books could have those words (out of order).
Even better would be if it gave you both possibilities. Use quotation marks and you get the exact match, otherwise you get any book that match all the words. I use the second quite frequently on my computer (internet): what was this book I read whose main character had a "charat" as a pet and got captured by child traficants who hid on a tropical island? ^^ I guess the first is useful to search for quotes. Both work for searching for a specific word in a reference book. |

I think this is nothing short of magic! My old Sony can't even search book titles.
If I didn't have the upheaval and expense of moving house, I'd be sooo tempted... |
