I'm a bit biaised toward Sony's reader because I've had one for years, that has worked reliably and simply. I don't think I ever opened the manual... Somehow I usually associate Sony with quality, usability (does this word exist?) and stability. And... high prices ^^ A bit like Apple there.
Btw, Sony is now offering a refund of 30€ (25%) on the PRS-T2...

If everything else fails for me, this is probably the easiest, non-Chinese brand of reader to get in China (Amazon's being out of the equation) so I don't feel like I absolutely need to get one now. A Kobo or a Cybook would be much harder...

Boyue, Onyx and Hanwang devices should also be much easier to get there, though I'm not sure I'll find a shop where I can try them and I probably won't understand the return tems... Unless it comes with a very good dictionary

Any input on PocketBook devices? They don't seem to have Chinese TTS but what about basic language support?

Thanks again to you all!

Yes I agree.

I've always been an Apple/Sony person and I suppose you naturally tend to favour products you've had good experience of in the past. I've always been pretty happy with Apple/Sony products and I've used a number of them over the years.

Price is relative—you do tend to get what you pay for. Sometimes it's just better to pay a little more for reliability and piece of mind.

Good luck with your continued searching but I think if were you, I'd be hanging on until September to see what the new Sony T3 is going to be like.

I ended up getting a Kobo Aura yesterday. I guess it will work as a manga reader or for books other than Chinese/Russian...

But I still need a reader with the required language/dictionary features...
