Yes, I do use Pretty Print Tidy and not Html Tidy but still, Pretty Print Tidy changes <image ... /> into <image>...</image>.

So it does. You can uncheck cleaning on Open and Save and it will leave it unchanged. Anything with Tidy is unlikely to be modified. I'm not aware of it causing any issues though.
