That's kindof what I'm juggling with. I could even, (actually have on my blog) post/give away piece parts. I'm calling it "How Do We Know" and will be something like 10-20 science articles/essays on a variety of topics.

Mark Coker did some number-crunching with Smashwords sales on the Huffington Post that you can find here.

It doesn't quite support Smith's pricing, but it does indicate that there's a lot of under-pricing going on.
