The third option is I can't bear to part with either my Glo or the Aura in which case we would 'share' the Aura between us I suppose. That would probably lead to me having to chase down a second Aura though as it's happened three times already to me when we've shared readers. What can I say, my Mum is a reader hog.

I also see no compelling reason to upgrade; I love my glo.
  • But the Aura is bigger: But then it might not slide into my handbag easily like my Glo does. I like the size of my Glo.
  • But it has a bigger screen: See above. I read with a small font size anyway (my optician is impressed): fitting more onto a page isn't an issue.
  • But it has more storage: I've got a 4 gig card in my Glo, so that's a none issue
  • But it's ergonomically designed to be nice to held: Holding my Glo isn't an issue. He lives in his padded case that has owls on. We both like owls. He has a nice padded back without the case too.
  • But it's faster: I'm not sure I'd notice faster than my Glo. I don't notice page turns as it is: if I can cope with my old K3, the blink every now and then isn't an issue now. My Glo is plenty fast.
  • But it's HD: If I can't see the difference on my 32 inch telly, I'm not going to notice on an e reader in black and white. I think my Glo has a wonderfully sharp screen anyway, thanks. I use it for text, not images, so that wouldn't bother me.

I think it I wanted PDFs, I'd buy a tablet. If I wanted comics or for some reason wanted the e ink screen with PDFs, it might be nice.

It doesn't offer me any huge upgrade, and I love my Glo very much. I hope Kobo don't forget the Glo.

I was sure I'd resist getting a Glo, but ended up getting it the day it became available. I agree that the aura is in no way an essential upgrade, but...it looks nice

Still hanging on to my KT as well.

Will try to resist getting the aura, will see how that goes this time.

Two words: battery life. I'm not sure how many page turns the Aura HD is good for but I reckon it'd still have longer battery life than any of the tablets I currently use for comic reading. I mostly read black & white comics (e.g. Japanese manga) so lack of a color display isn't an issue. I've already given up on being able to read comics on an e-ink display so I'm really glad that the Aura HD was released. Bonus, it's readable even under bright sunlight.

I was actually looking to purchase the Glo a while back but it's hard to find it for sale in the US (that was before Kobo started offering it on their website). Even if I had gotten one, I know I definitely would have still bought the Aura HD.
