I think there might be some confusion. I only use the shortcut in the taskbar to open the default.epub file when I am starting a new book. If I am opening one in progress then I just click on the actual file...sigil is my default editor...and it opens.
Changing the properties of a shortcut is so trivial it shouldn't be a big deal. 1) right click on shortcut, select properties. 2) add "{path}/default.epub" to end of command 3) hit ok Done I only do that once - when I initially install sigil...now I don't have to do anything else when I start a new book, and all those default files and settings and styles are exactly how I want them. I NEVER start sigil in a "blank" configuration so have no need for the standard sigil shortcut - I'm not sure what good the blank configuration does anyone?? |

Not trying to be difficult, but they both involve clicking an icon and remembering to Save-as something else. What's done is done, of course, but you could have achieved the exact same effect by putting a shortcut to your default.epub file in the taskbar with zero property-wrangling. But no biggie ... whatever works for you. ![]() Last edited by DiapDealer; 04-06-2013 at 01:14 PM. |

I tried that first, but for some reason it didn't work. I don't remember exactly what it did, just that it didn't work. That's when I just fixed the properties. I'll check it again in the morning so I can describe exactly what happened.

But a lot of times (esp. with a multiplely converted book) I'll find nearly every paragraph will be

text, text, text

or a couple of
tags IMHO, a <dev> that serves no purpose, should be removed. Paul |

If you try and drag the "default.epub" file to the task bar it reverts to a shortcut of the main program only....it will only open the "blank" sigil environment. So, adding the path to the "default.epub" file to the "Target" in the properties is the only way to do it. Regardless of HOW you make your shortcut to a template, it is very easy to do to make a template and I highly recommend them to anyone who uses sigil regularly. |

Weird. I can add a shortcut to the default.epub file in the quicklaunch area of the taskbar, no problem. Drag & drop. Oh well.

When I'm forced to use Windows, it's usually something much earlier and less bit-y than that. I capped out in the neighborhood of Vista, I believe. I've not even seen 8 live and in the flesh.
