That would do it. Kobo still have some books with the series in the title. Though generally it is in parenthesis rather than separated by a hyphen.

I understand how different titles would do it, but somehow, one book shows up and one does not--though both have the same issue: the addition in the kepub version of the hyphen and text.

I misread what you said. I read it as only the "The Whispers of Legend" had the hyphen and series name.

I grabbed the previews of both books. Well, I grabbed the preview of "Honour Among Men" and didn't find "The Whispers of Legend". I did find "The Whisper of Legend". Did you add the extra "s" or is it in one version of the books?

The preview only gives me the kepub version. And the metadata might not exactly match the full version. Looking at the database, the "An Inspector Green Mystery" is in the subtitle field. As you are seeing, the device shows the subtitle in the lists separated from the book title by a hyphen. The driver doesn't use the subtitle in any way.

If the extra "s" is not the cause, I'd like to see the database from your device. Could you add the epub version of the book that is not matching the kepub to the device using calibre, let the device process the book and then send me the database? From that I should be able to see what is happening.

I didn't add the "s", but it is Whispers in the epub version. The cover of the book lists Whisper of Legends as the title, as does the kepub version. That explains it.
