There is really no excuse for that kind of slop.
That is about the worst one I've heard. I've had books that looked as if the formatting and proofreading was done by a chimpanzee but never one that would not open.

Geee... we should check if our ebook opens on our own ereader? What a weird concept. One local author owns about 10 ereaders which he uses to check how his books look on various devices. His comments about some of the versions of his work have ranged from unprintable on down.

David

Not to argue but that could have been due to a bad download that ended up corrupted. You probably checked that by downloading the book on a dif device any way. But just in case I thought I would mention it.

good luck

That is certainly possible. When it was brought to my attention I downloaded it to my pc, added it to Calibre, and converted it to the style she prefers before sideloading it to her ereader.

I am, however, pretty sure she said she tried to redownload and it still did not work. She doesn't use Calibre and uses ADE so, in all fairness, there's really no telling what actually went on. It did show up in her library on the device, cover, title and author. I kind of wish I had looked at the file, but at that point frustration had set in and I was feeling some pressure.

Can not argue with logic.
