HP Introduces $169 Android Tablet - Page 2

Well, now...
First, HP pricing is list and their products do get discounted at retail. So that $169 will be $149 at Staple and Office MaxDepot and hit $129 on sales at BB by Memorial Day.
Second, if they are getting into the Android tablet bubble at this point it is clearly a rush job. Probably related to the sale of the WebOS division. Which means it is a placeholder to get the brand into the Tablet space again in preparation for the *real* HP tablets in the fall.
Third, they probably only ordered a hundred thousand or so of the things instead of the millions of touchpads.

So, yes, it is a generic entry-level me-too product. But the HP brand and distribution will let them move 10-20K a month and serve as a launchpad for bigger and better things. (Their thinking, obviously.)

What I want to know is if they'll come with Kindle or Nook pre-installed.

None of the articles I read mentioned anything about it having Google Play on it. Am I to assume it does?

I like 16:10 on my Nexus. It's great for videos and surfing the web with it doesn't bother me at all.

Yeah, since I use only portrait mode, 4:3 aspect ratio woks much better for me as well.

They never should have abandoned webos. They'll never set themselves apart with another android product.

Agreed. I was interested in WEBOS for all the now abandoned reasons.

I bought a Veer and was left out in the rain with it with zero support, so, yeah, I don't trust them to stick to whatever they do for longer than maybe 6 months.

have to agree with the last few ... what's the odds that they decide this tablet is a mistake and abandon it after 6 months? Not for me. Don't trust the company.

This is a smart move on their part, what I like us they are not going for the spec game but distinguishing themselves on builds quality. Their only real mistake was the low res screen, that it's big enough mistake to cause thisv device to fail.

I have been in the market for a good 7" tablet for a while now and this one appears to actually be worth taking a look, it has the required SD slot and I don't need GPS at all. Thanks for the heads up!

Not to mention back to school deals and such. Buy an HP laptop or desktop and get a tablet for $x.xx

Have you taken a look at the Nook HD+? For the money, it's about the best out there.
