Wasn't a Nook rooted and re-cooked with Android? Not sure how well it ran/runs, but I kind of remember something about it happening.

Earl E-ink backcountry tablet
Haven't really seen any E-Ink tablets. but heres one that is running android and is designed for Backcountry dudities. Looks cool, just hope its real:

As someone has already pointed out, the Nook ST gives a lot of extra options for Android. I'd recommend looking at the XDA Developers forum for it to get an idea. Custom kernel + fastmode or norefresh and you can get around the slow e-ink refresh at the loss of some clarity. The main limitation for me is that it's Android 2.1 and there are a few apps I want to use that need 2.2/2.3+.
Now that I have a NST w/ Glowlight, it works in all situations! Battery life is fantastic, of course. |
