1. Navigate back to the top menu screen. 2. Pull all your cards out. 3. Press the reset button. 4. Slide the on/off switch. 5. Run outside, strip and wave a rubber chicken over your head 6. Crow like a rooster and smack yourself in the nads with a hammer. Sudoku still won't work, but you'll feel better... or maybe you won't ![]() Mike |

![]() ![]() ![]() Seriously, I deleted the Sudoku folder, not sure I did that the right way either, because by then I had also lost my collections ... but could be something wrong with my card, so I replaced it and is now reloading my books.... but will stay away from the Sudoku just to be on the safe side ![]() Zevs |

I thought about it too ... but lacking keyboard, how would the user enters the word to search for?
Does anybody know / have any link to further information regarding this from the site? "The DOM of Sony Reader includes labels, sprites, backgrounds, animation and many other visual elements with support of styles, skins, transparent colors etc." |

Getting back to the topic of this thread, does anyone have any idea how to get this working for those of us who are experiencing the same problems as Zevs and vinniet -- and me? I have the clock, direct page entry and custom icons hacks installed. I'd love to have this working.

1. Make sure you have copied the entire Sudoku directory structure to the card. In other words, when you open the card folder you should see 'Sony Reader' as a sub-folder. All the Sudoku files should be organized under 'Sony Reader' sub-folder, just as they are in the Sudoku zip. [MAKE SURE YOU NAVIGATE TO THE TOP MENU OF THE READER] [YOU SHOULD NOT BE VIEWING A BOOK WHEN YOU INSERT THE CARD] 2. If you copied these files though the usb port on the card (versus though a card adapter inserted in your computer) you may need to remove the card and re-insert it in order to activate the 'autorun' of Sudoku. 3. Insert the card. If Sudoku loads, great! Press the enter key. This should start the game. Use the arrow and the page buttons to move the cursor. Press the numbers, press enter, have fun. 4. When you are done, make sure you 'arrow-up' to the exit button and press enter to exit the game. If you forget to do this and you remove the card, you will put your reader into a hard freeze. 5. Now if you yank out the card while the game is still running, or if Sudoku fails to load, do the following to reset the computer (this time no jokes): a. Press the reset button on the back-side of your Reader. b. Slide the on/off switch. This should reset your system. You may need to repeat (a.) and (b.) again if the system is frozen solid. Hope this helps... hope I'm not full of crap! ![]() Best of luck, Mike |

If you've got the first version of the script, redownload it. First version was working only for the setup "Right arrow = next page".

In the startup screen, how many "games" does it say you have available? If that shows up as "0," then things did not all get moved by the Reader to the proper folder (happened to me the first time). Your "easy.tpl," "medium.tpl" and "hard.tpl" files should all have been copied from driveletter:\sudoku\Sony Reader\software\sudoku to driveletter:\Sony Reader\software\sudoku automagically. If not, you will need to do it manually. I have a couple of other questions: 1. Right now, the only way I can start the game is through autorun--i.e., remove and re-insert the SD card, and turn on the reader. Is there a way to access it from a menu somewhere. 2. Is there a way to "save" and resume a game in an intermediate state, so I can go read a book and come back to Sudoku later? I only seem to be able to quit without saving, and always re-start in a new, randomly-selected game the next try. Last edited by curtw; 02-13-2008 at 09:53 AM. |

Thanks very much to those who've offered me advice!
Mike's Place -- the game autoruns just fine, and I can move between the different menu options. It's just that the Enter button doesn't do anything. I'm inserting the SD card when I'm at the top level menu. Oh, and I of course can't choose Quit (since Enter doesn't work), but taking out the card puts me back to the usual screen. igorsk -- I re-downloaded sudoku.zip, and reinstalled. The .xml file is dated 2/10. curtw -- I see 600-something games, so my SD card layout should be OK. Perhaps I'd have more luck if another button was used instead of Enter -- say, Size or Mark, since I don't have any hacks installed that involve them. Does anyone know a quick way to alter autorun.xml to do that? I poked around the file, but I don't really understand it. Thanks again! Pib |

Up to now I have no idea whats going wrong. From my experience, sometimes formating the card is needed to work with autorun (if there were many replacement of the files on the card). So I suggest format the card (quick format is enough) and try again. Let me know if the problem is still there, I can write some diagnostic script, to figure out the reason. Quote:
2. Planning to do in the coming versions. |

obelix, thanks for creating this, and thanks for supporting it!
Tried a quick format of my 1gb Sandisk Ultra II USB card, making the filesystem FAT (as it was before). Downloaded a fresh copy of sudoku.zip, extracted to the card, and got the exact same behavior as before. I'd be happy to give a diagnostic script a try. MP, yes, the problem is that Enter doesn't function. I have the correct structure. Thanks to both of you, Pib |
