I think reading is more fluid myself. If you watch a movie you associate a given actor with the characters but if you read a book the face of the character is for you to decide. For example if you mention "Gone With The Wind" most people see Clarke Gable's face when the character of Rhett Butler is mentioned.

Fiction opens new worlds to me and often leads to learning all I can about places, eras, and people that intrigue me.
These are only a handful of examples from the decades I've loved reading and learning from fiction. Probably 175 of the 186 books I've read so far this year have been fiction. They have enriched my life and inspired curiosity. |

While it might be more educational, non-fiction books just don't appeal to me as much. In my mind, the events already happened in real life and there's not really anything to imagine. While reading fiction, I love having all the characters in my head and playing out the action. It's more compelling.
