Me too.

My only suggestion based on that is to backup the configuration directory, then exit calibre, delete the old configuration directory and restart calibre (it will create new configuration directory.

Then restart calibre, unhide your column, exit and restart calibre.
Probably won't work but easy enough to retore your configuration directory if it doesn't.

Another suggestion, really flailing now, is to create several columns and see if any of them stick. Maybe create an empty database(s) for this purpose one with copy structure ticked and one without so you can delete at will with no worries.

Custom column info is part of Metadata.db and not the configuration (different Libraries can have different columns) folder.

Betcha its the View Manager plugin

bigbird1227 - if you're running View Manager, you need to tell it what columns you want in the book list - it takes precedence over whats in Custom Columns

If you're not running View Manager then it must be something else.

You're absolutely right. I had mine setup so it wasn't active on restart (see attached), because the tweak I had in calibre worked fine for restarts, but if I have it set on restart then I get the same symptoms as the OP.

Karma coming your way.

Problem fixed thanks to Kovid Goyal, Plugin View Manager was managing my list of columns and not allowing me to make modifications

Glad you got it fixed, but it's old news.

BetterRed also gave you the correct answer (post 18) almost 22 hours before your "Problem fixed" post. I immediately verified the fix and gave BetterRed karma for seeing what we didn't.
