In my case, when I switch the wireless on (placing checkmark in box), and then tick 'sync', it automatically reconnects, no password asked. I can remember that it did ask a password every time, when I went to the section to connect by hand (sorry, no device at hand at the moment, so can't check). Must say, that was with the previous firmware. |

Nogle; I don't believe the WiFi info is stored in the database unfortunately, I think it's kept in simple text files on the non user accessible side, and I think the only way to fix it would be the factory reset / upgrade option

I still had an open ticket with Kobo about not being able to download free books from their store.
I mentioned the problem with wifi, and according to Koco CS, I should try a reset, and if that doesn't work, do a factory reset and reinstall all my books. Soft reset I'd already tried, and I really don't care about the wifi enough to do a factory reset and reinstall everything. I suspect the next upgrade will just change what wifi capabilities I have anyway, so might restore them without going through the hassle of a factory reset. Anyhoo, CS seemed to know about the 2.1.5 wifi problem, though I wasn't keen on their solution |

I don't think Kobo has done this, since for most people it is properly saving the Wifi password. Have you tried a factory reset yet (painful as it is)? If it's still not working after that post your router make/model and what settings you're using and maybe that will give someone a clue to give you an answer/cure.

robko, I do suspect it's a problem with the ereader not the network, because:
nothing in any of my networks changed. the only change was the update to 2.1.5. I connect it to my work wifi as well as my coffee shop which changes their password fortnightly and to a home network. surely if it were an issue with router setup I would not be having the same problem across all networks? |

A further question based on what you're saying here: is it only your home network that it isn't saving the password for or all three you listed? If it's just your own what settings are you using? There have been funky things with WPA (vs WPA2) in past which is why I was asking about network settings. |

I noticed it on the home network when I tested it this week. So for a lark I brought it in to work today to test it on the network there. It should have had a password for that network, and didn't. I connected, typed the password, browsed a few minutes, then powered off. turned it on about 10 minutes later, no saved password, didn't even recognize the network as the one I usually join with.
Then, checked it at our local coffee shop. They change the password about every 2 weeks. Doubt it would have had the current password in it already, since I rarely connect to wifi. It didn't, went through the same thing. So, it's neither remembering networks its connected to, nor is it remembering passwords after it powers off. that seems to be the key. tomorrow i'll check if it can remember the password after just going into sleep mode. but, since i don't use the kobo store from the ereader (it's never managed to store my country data and card data, which i had assumed was because i travel between 3 countries regularly), i can't easily buy books from it anyway. so i only ever use wifi for sync, which isn't a common occurance. so a factory reset to fix something that's a quirk rather than an annoyance seems a waste of my time. and who knows if the next upgrade won't restore my wifi and change something else? ![]() |

I wonder if you should maybe return to the home screen before turning it off? (ie the main Kobo screen).

Thanks for all the advice - last night it connected to the wifi without need of the password. then it did again just now.
I think I see what's happening, for me anyway. . When I press the Settings bar , and tick the wifi box, it seems to connect. But if I go further into Settings into the options, and then click on the Wi-Fi Connection , and then on that page tick the Wifi box, it's ok too......, BUT if I then tick on Connect underneath it that's when it brings up the Network options and then asks for my password again.. I hope I've explained it clearly. Before this new upgrade, once I'd given my password it was stored and wifi came on whichever box I ticked, and I was not asked for my password ever again. . Anyway it seems ok now if I do it the right way and I hope the others get sorted. . |

I have been experiencing the password re-enter problem as well, but I have another issue. For the first few weeks I had my Kobo Touch I could connect to wi fi (without re-entering password) and it would open a "Kobo Browser" page complete with Google search field and I was able to do some limited internet surfing. Now all I can get is lists of books that are either free download or for purchase, no more browser. I was even allowed to choose a homepage before, I set it too google maps because I drive a lot with my work and sometimes need to look up addresses(If there was a Tim Hortons or Starbucks around I was in). Anybody here know what I'm talking about or was my Kobo doing something it shouldn't have been doing?
