Sorry for pulling up an older thread-- but I'm a new Kobo Mini owner, having some related issues. In my case, it involves epubs from my public library downloaded via ADE. 2 of 3 lack the option to adjust font size. This is not an issue with purchased titles from Kobo.

Upgraded ADE, did full reset, but the problem remains. Not having functional library titles is a big drawback-- though my Nook ST will be glad get my attention again.

Any ideas? TIA.

Sorry, it doesn't sound like a related issue at all. And I put an answer in the thread you created in the Developers forum.

I've seen a couple of books from the local public library that had issues with the font size. Removing the DRM on one of them and looking through the file, I found embedded fonts and a stylesheet specifying all font sizes in pixels rather than em or %.

Thanks, davidfor and DNSB, for the replies.

DNSB, that's an interesting lead. Did you find a fix for this? It's curious that for these pesky titles, the Kobo font icon in the lower toolbar (the two "A"s) is not there. Instead it's replaced by an icon w 4 arrows that seems to permit zooming-- though it doesn't work very well.

Library downloads work seamlessly on my other readers, and I was hoping the Kobo Mini would also fit the bill in this area. So far not.

Are you sure they are epub and not PDF?

They're listed as epubs on the library site, so I'm assuming that's the case.

Find them in the library list on the device. The type is displayed there.

The books are downloaded via ADE. How are they displayed there?

The AA icon was still there, just that the font size change didn't work or had so little effect, it may as well not have been there. Since it was a library book after I went through it with Sigil and edited the stylesheet to use em instead of pixels for font size and removed the embedded fonts, I did some testing and the behaviour had return to normal so I deleted the books.

The only epub I've seen display the zoom four headed arrow on was one of Kobo's own documents that was full page images. Otherwise, I only see it on CBR/CBZ and PDF files.

Regards,
David
