I did this with my husband's account in August, I am thinking about cancelling mine and switching to this plan also.
I cancelled my Audible plan maybe a year or two ago. I don't remember them offering me the $9.95 plan. That doesn't mean that they did and I just don't remember it.

I think I can still buy audio books from them. I still have my account and when I go to the site I see the books listed with a price. What is the advantage of the $9.95 plan if I can still buy the books? Think I'm confused.

It is my understanding that members get a lower price, I am not sure if this still applies since you can now buy them at the member price for the whispersync. I think you also get the sales promotions, which non-members do not get.

Audible was bought out by Amazon, guess everyone knows that. But they improved big time. I have been able to return books I didn't like no questions asked.

But I don't think I will renew my membership, unless of course Amazon has a great deal again, discount the Apple Ipod and signup for Audible. My husband thought I was nuts. But he doesn't use audiobooks. I do every single night when I can't sleep.

But now Amazon has great deals on books with audible and I tried it with Jane Eyre book, and it was absolutely wonderful! I love the combination of this with the KFHD. My only regret is I didn't get the bigger KFHD

You have the Basic Plan like I do. It was free, but is no longer offered. Audible replaced it with the Light Plan and now charge $9.95/year for it. Existing Basic Members get to keep the Basic Plan and won't be charged for it.

I cancelled my Gold Plan last December and I still get most of the sales at member prices. See post 7 for an explanation of the two plans.

Thanks TM. But I don't see where there's a bargain or discount. When I go to the page it shows the books as $25, $28, $32, etc.

I was referring to the sales they have every now and then, not regular prices. In order to get a 30% discount off regular prices, you have to have either a Gold or Platinum membership.

The paid memberships are only good for those who purchase lots of audiobooks. These memberships allow you to purchase one to two audiobooks per month or all 12/24 at once for $9.56 to $14.95 each; depending on the plan selected.

Ah! OK. I haven't really paid attention to Audible's sales prices. Since I got my ereader, I hardly ever go to the site. Should probably visit the site more often.
