Maybe, I never sort primarily by Title. I always sort by author then by series and finally by title. I do not have a Kindle but possibly jenrar may find help in

Preferences - Tweaks - Set the list of words considered to be "articles" for title sort

or

Preferences - Tweaks - Control formatting of title and series when used in templates.

Good Luck.

Thanks for the posts, guys. I can sort them ok in Calibre, but because I have a Touch, it doesn't keep that sort saved when I send it to my Kindle, I guess. It still sorts with the article (The or A, etc) at the end. Ah well. I figured out a workaround. It's a pain, but no biggie.

The second item I referred you to has nothing to do with sorting in calibre.

Good luck.

Jenrar, I think what you are having problems with may be the difference between "title" and "title_sort" fields. I don't have a Kindle, but when I send a book to iTunes, it sends both the "title" and "title_sort" to iTunes "name" and "sort_name" fields, respectively.

To do as you are requesting, I had to specifiy that Calibre send the "title" as the "title_sort" by using the Metadata Plugboard. I would think you could do the same on the Kindle.

Hope this helps.

(Same goes for A Surprise Birthday Party, for example.) I've changed the metadata on all my books in calibre, but after I sent them to my Kindle, it's still sorting them like Surprise Birthday Party, The.

Help please?
See the tweak (preferences -> tweaks) "Control formatting of title and series when used in templates (ID: save_template_title_series_sorting)". Set it to strictly_alphabetic.
