That certainly seems to be true with e-books; the best way to get a lot of 1-star reader reviews is to give a book away for free.

You'd think that someone who downloaded a book for free and gave up after five pages would be the least likely to leave a bad review, but they seem to be the most likely to complain.

The question is whether in the future these things will work so well. Will Google and Samsung display all the dedication to making sure Apple products satisfy Apple customers as they have in the past?

For Samsung, they will if they don't want to lose billions of dollars, their reputation, their by far largest customer, and, the $4 billion they just invested in a fab plant in Texas to make chips for Apple.

I'm not exactly sure what Google would do, but since it makes 4x as much from iOS than it does from Android, I don't think it could make its services work less well on iOS and still make that kind of money.

Realistically, of course, these are all big businesses which aren't going to throw away billions of dollars in profit because someone on the internet wanted the other "team" to win.

That equation's changing of course, with Apple moving away from Google Maps, and possibly Google search. The 4x figure was up to the end of 2011, and we've had a big push towards content sales with Google Play this year, as well as the widening gap in market share.

It'll be interesting to see if there's some way to gauge Google's relative earnings from the two platforms over 2012. One of the few reasons to actually want another big lawsuit!

Not going to happen Samsung produces 20-30 different kinds of Android phones all with different specs. Going with windows they will have to go with what Microsoft tells them to do.
Apple only won in the US every other country they lost. US was the largest market for Smart phones it is not anymore China already outstrips it. At the end of the day Americans will be left with no choice but to use windows or Apple and the rest of the world will leave it behind.

Verizon Wireless will be selling multiple Windows Phone 8 devices in the fourth quarter, CNET has learned.

The nation's largest carrier hasn't been the most enthusiastic partner to Microsoft and the Windows Phone platform, but Verizon appears to be more bullish.

"We'll sell multiple Windows Phones in the fourth quarter," Verizon Chief Marketing Officer Tami Erwin told CNET.

Getting a new Windows Phone on to Verizon is important because it's the nation's largest wireless carrier, opening up a potentially large base customers to the platform.
