I found when I went shopping for my netbook, most, if not all, were able to upgrade/swap out the original 1GB for a 2GB. though not higher because my particular model said 2GB upgrade only.

Sometimes ADDing RAM requires removal removal of the existing RAM SODIMM and replacing it with bigger capacity, just like some cheaper PC's only have 1 pair of DIMM slots
Now Tablets are made to get you to pay lots more for a bigger RAM (and to save space by not using a socket) model
