I have had a Nook Touch for a year now. The battery became a bit wonky a couple of months ago, but I opened the device up and plugged it back on and it's now business as usual.

Software
I just wanted something that supports .epub format and does not lock me to any specific website/company. I do not need to read .pdf files.

Hardware
I like touch-screen capabilities (ask my iPhones) and I don't need a keyboard because I mainly read novels for leisure. Any time I need to search for a word, the simple 'find' option in the Nook Touch is sufficient.

The bezel on the Nook is large enough for me to rest my palm, but not large enough as to create a difficult chore for my thumb when I turn to a new page.

It is very hardy. It has a skin and a customised cushiony pouch but I have not been using the pouch, and even with the few scratches on the screen (keys and Nook are not best friends) and my throwing it around, even with the battery problem that I suspect was a simple matter of being dislodged as a direct result of my throwing it around, the Nook has taken it all.

I'll be sad the day it finally dies, but right now it seems like a Duracell bunny.

THE BAD
I do not live in USA so I had to use a third-party shipping company, and I could only cross my fingers that it is not a defective set because sending it back would be a troublesome and expensive task.
