Very true.

I purchased eight ebooks from Amazon last night. That process took all of 2 minutes and a further 5 minutes to process the new ebooks through Calibre, metadata massaging, conversion and transfer to my PRS-650.

Easy.

The others (those that actually sell internationally) do not come close to that ease of use.

Problem is, on a stock nook, B&N limits how much of the storage space you can have for non B&N purchased content. On the simple touch like you have, only 250mb can be used for nonB&N content.

I know someone will be able to explain this to me, but why are they mentioning hardback pricing in this?

The end loser of this unnecessary and burdensome regulatory approach will be the American public, who will experience higher overall average e-book and hardback prices and less choice
I've only ever been looking at this from the angle of ebooks so I'm not sure how hardbacks fit into this.

Cause that's what they want to sell.

Certainly. If ebooks are soon going to be loss leaders, they (ABA, BN, etc) need to make up the revenue on other products including hard covers.

Because publishers and B&N believe that "real books" are hardcovers, and ebooks are supposed to subsidize the failing hardcover-sales industry.

The DoJ rejected this claim, pointing out that if publishers want to support brick-and-mortar stores, they can do so directly--with dollars--rather than by pushing the cost of that support onto customers who apparently don't want to pay for those stores.
