The "overnight" is probably fine. It will stop charging when the LED turns green (other than a minor trickle charge). Just do not charge it too often.

I charged my Kindle for about 24 hours on a wall charger.
PC is just not picking up the Kindle. So even with the noob guide, I can't get past point 4. I hear a lot of 'device pick up' and 'device dropped' (kwim?) noises when I do the 'hold power button for 30 sec's, then vol - button for 1 second' bit. But pc does not pick up kindle. (Have tried 2 different cables, also 2 different pc's). (Kindle does however have the little orange light on when it's plugged in?) Can it still be the battery?
