This concept of 'wuv' confuses and infuriates us!

PS - Just a joke. But I'm glad it's working for you!

Yes indeed though i also suspect that I was using the wrong format when transferring the data. Whatever the reason I now have some ebooks on my Kindle 2.

And "u"? Is that 3-year old baby speak for "you"?

You've got me there Mike. My frivolity was misplaced but inspired by the wonderful help coming from my overseas 'cousins'.
All is joy with my new toy but there is something I will try shortly and that is to see if I can circumvent the restricions regarding the need to have a US credit card by using PayPal - a US based comany as we all know - where I already have a small balance waiting to be spent. Has any none US based person tried this way of accessing Amazon ebooks??

You mean the PayPal option to generate a MasterCard number? Don't know why it wouldn't work, but I don't know anyone who has tried it.

You can apply gift certificates first to your account, and then buy Kindle books that way.

Patricia,

Not sure about PayPal. It's not one of the standard payment options on Amazon, as far as I can see. Let us know how you get on.

You mention the fact that PayPal is a US company. That won't make any difference. I have a US credit card issued by a US bank, but it doesn't solve the problem. It's your country that's important, not the one associated with the payment method.

My own solution is to use gift certificates. At least, it's worked so far.

Regarding the Paypal option - apparently that does not circumvent the restrictions regarding purchases from outside the US. I found a blog with numerous entries about Amazon and Paypal all of which said "no you can't use Paypal for Amazon purchases" though there was a reference to a Paypal debit card which could work. I get the impression that there is some sort of turf war going on here - am I stating the obvious???? Yes the gift card option seems to be the way to go. I found the blog by searching for 'paypal amazon' - interesting result covering 2 years of blogging on this topic.

When people say "you can't use paypal" they generally mean the old-fashioned option. They generally do not mean Paypal debit cards nor the method I was talking about regarding a one-time credit card number.

I just mentioned the fact that paypal was a US company as I thought that it would then meet the requirements of Amazon who require a US account - but it apparently doesn't. The gift card is the way to go it seems.
