Does the iriver HD features a pearl eInk display?
Are there other readers with an 6'' pearl display and XGA resolution available?

Yes it has. An other reader with 6" XGA is the ImCoSys12 but it is only available in swiss. And the Wexler FlexOne has one.

I respectfully disagree.

While you can, the dialogues may be too small. Also, depending of the device, changing pages can be too slow too. So 10 inches is better. 6 inches is doable, but not enough, not in my own experience and opinion.

Tablets are a better choice for Manga. You can pinch zoom, it's easier to read and there are some dedicated applications for that. iPad2 or iPad1 are awesome devices for Manga.

Last but not least, Kindle DXG, while kind of slow for turning pages, is also a good option. It's eink but with a decent size for Manga.

Reading Marvel Comics on Jetbook Color using a proper light is an experience you'll never thought of.

I also tried manga and the reading is comfortable but, in my opinion, color comics are more enjoyable on Triniton display.

In my experience the iPad screen renders color comics as a cartoon displayed on Tv. Instead Jetbok Color renders them as much as an hand-made color draw.

You can see an example reading my post:
https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...9&postcount=15

The defect in Jbc is not the screen (I love it) but the lack of some feature in firmware: for example there is no support for cbz/cbr.

Comics are drawn on white paper. Now please look at that:

The Jetbook Color might be better than the LCD screen of the iPad. But it is still far away from what you would expect from a good color-paper imitation.

Nonetheless it is a innovativ new feature, though. But it is still in the early stages of development. And I would not spend 500$ for an inadequate device.

No way is the Jetbook Color's screen better then the retna display of the New iPad. For one, the screen size is smaller, the colors are somewhat dull and not nearly as accurate, the resolution is only 800x600 in color and about the same cost as an iPad (16GB WiFi). So really, it's a no brainer to get a new iPad instead of a Jetbook Color. The screen on the New iPad is very nice compared to the so-so screen of the JBC.

better = closer to actual paper

as mod186k1 mentioned:

I share that experience. Anyway, you can not realy compare both screens. If you don't want to read comics on LCD screen it could be like 4K resolution and still wouldn't be the better display.

I've allready mentioned in this thread that the Ipad would be the way better choice but starr974 answered:

Quote:
I would like buy tablet too (for manage my collection for exemple) , but my eyes are very tired when i read on my LCD screen (my computer) so im afraid that i cant read long time on tablet with LCD screen....
So there is no more discussion if the Ipad is better because it is allready excluded for this reader. And as I said if you don't want to read on LCD screen it doesn't matter how excellent it is. So we can keep at this point that you prefer the Ipad screen and other people prefer E-ink screens.

Back to topic:

maybe for all comic enthusiast it is worth waiting for this?

Photos never explain what triton perform because you show them on LCD.

You are talking about what is better and worse but without having any clue of what really an image on Jetbook Color could be displayed.
I repeat: photo are often misleading.

I'm not saying Triton is better than Retina but I am saying they are very different things and, according to my tastes, I prefer the first.

For those who have a JBC and have seen an iPad retna display, which one is more accurate in terms of color reproduction?

why are all photos in that page in a yellow lighting? To cover up the color display shortcomings?

They use that light at almost all their reviews.

Yes! While using the Jetbook Color I always had the feeling of turn the powersaving mode off and get back to normal mode... but there was no normal mode. Here is a video that illustrates what I mean:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=seWx1-LdBK8

(this time the guys from goodereader are not using the yellow light)

And yes I know some will complain that a video does not show the reality and yes they are right, but I perceived the screen exactly as shown in the video.
