Mommy porn is a ridiculous pejorative. Why shouldn't women who have children have erotica?

I don't have a feeling one way or the other about the term "mommy porn". There are men who also claim to enjoy this style of writing, and I'm a "mommy" who doesn't, so to me the term is not terribly applicable.
To me it's no different than the term "Chick Flick" even though my husband and I both equally enjoy watching Beaches, and for the same reasons, and cry at the same parts, even. He rolls his eyes at the term "Chick Flick" as if women only corner the market on being able to cry at a well choreographed sappy scene set to "Wind Beneath My Wings?" My husband also enjoys the book Pride and Prejudice even though it's colloquially known as "classic chick lit". |

The term "mommy porn" does bug me, but the media loves to tarnish anything that has to do with sex and erotic romance - which is what I consider 50 Shades to be. It's definitely not full out erotica since the sexual relationship takes place between two consenting adults in an exclusive relationship and leads to marriage, and it definitely isn't porn. It isn't even as hot as some of the erotic romances that are out there and have been for several years.
Total-e-Bound, which publishes this new line of eroticized classics, has been publishing erotic romance since 2007. And they're not the first to publish erotic versions of classic novels, so they're not just capitalizing on a new trend brought about by the release of 50 Shades. What's different, though, is the media's reaction to all things even remotely related to erotic romance for women. Even a year ago this line wouldn't have received all the attention it has, but the media is hyper aware of all things erotica at the moment. (Disclaimer: I do have an historical romance coming out with Total-e-Bound in the near future. It isn't a take on someone else's story, though, but entirely my own - for better or for worse!)
