It could be ~10%, but I'm just not seeing the difference (2700K, 16gb mem), but I seldom work outside of mobi/epub/lit/rtf. I think you were not getting read caching there.

That was actually a simple HTML -> EPUB conversion. It just happened to be a pretty long one and resources dedicated to the virtual machine was limited (1-core of i7-860, 256MB RAM).

The Calibre program itself loads quickly enough from HDD. It's the database operations that really benefit from SSD (batch adding files, metadata edits, etc).
