wait...why would you need an ipad mini if you already have an iphone, ipad, or whatever else? o.O wouldn't the features be essentially the same? (i mean, apps and such and purpose)

Apps aren't always identical for iPad and iPhone, e.g. the iPad app I use for all my job costing, estimating and invoicing has an iPhone version, but with a fraction of the functionality I need as it's skewed more towards 'point of sale' type usage.

So whilst I'd love an iPad mini, I think what we'll get is an iPod+. The iPad's a prime brand, and I don't think they'd dilute it by adding another model; iPods OTOH are due for a revamp - particularly the Touch, which hasn't had any attention for a couple of years.

Anyway, I'm preparing myself for disappointment later in the year, but as always, would be happy to be wrong!

I can't really answer for the Apple people, since I don't have any, but I do have a 10" Transformer (with keyboard/dock) a 7" ViewSonic Tablet, a 5.3" Samsung Galaxy Note and a 3.8" HTC Desire. And I can unequivocally state that each device has its own purpose in my gadget centric lifestyle. Sure, there is some overlap, but there is also gadget specific usage.

Given that Apple use sensible metric screen sizes (the current iPad has a 250mm screen; the iPhone has a 90mm screen); I'd go for 200mm (about 8").

How about the iPad^2. Since the iPad is a fraction of a computer, the iPad^2 could be even less of a computer. Since the price is greater than a computer, they could sell the iPad^2 for more than an iPad.

Not everyone has an iPad. There are plenty who want a smaller device.
