Get an iPad. You won't regret it. It's head and shoulders above anything else for this kind of thing.

Have you actually tried reading PDFs on a tablet? I find it very acceptable.

For a lot of folks, this is true. I have tried it and found it lacking. The good things about it are the ability to truly read any diagrams that are included. They are usually more responsive than most eink readers. Plus they are much more versatile. However, I get fatigued reading a tablet for too long. And I really like the battery life of eink devices.

exactly my point - I have no doubt that a good tablet is way beter than any -ink device for pdf, technical drawings, annotation and shuffling things around - but my eyes are getting more and more intolerant of retroilluminated screens (probably increasingly so after starting on e-ing), which is why I try and do all my work on an e-ink device.

So I'd also say, if you tolerate the screen, go for a tablet - as things stand no e-ink device will give you the same speed, responsiveness and flexibility. Also, carrying a 9.7" around is more complicated, as to protect the glass substrate you have to avoid torsion, and I have read of people that broke their device simply by lifting it by a corner.

BUT, if your eyes bother you, provided you buy with your eyes wide open, you can enjoy your e-ink device thoroughly - I am very happy with mine!

when is the next batch of e-ink readers coming out?

Ever since I lost my PRS950 I've been impatiently waiting for the next set of e-readers like M92 and 903, except with bugs fixed, and Android based.

I really need e-ink, active light source is not an option.

Unfortunately the demand for this kind of ereader is very low. This is why all big players on the market of ereaders are quiet disinterested. Poketbook devices are already outdated and the company will most likely discard of its 9,7" ereaders line. The only one really good alternative is Onyx Boox M92.

Even it suffers on some teething troubles of the software, it is permanently improved, the manufacturer is responsible and the user community is active. I didn't hear about plans of other E-Ink Ereader manufacturers to develop 9,7" ereader in the near future.

The same for me.
But for the battery life, if you read manga or comics, your battery will use more energy because more e-ink than text, no??

Do you know, if M92 can show the covers of your collection of .cbz/.cbr (like Ipad?)

No, it shouldn't make any difference.
