I am jealous. I will have to get them too now. I loved them.

Fortunately, I have a bunch of them on my Kindle. Not all, by any means. But enough to keep me going for a while.

The animals that represent us are ripe for jokes and puns. For Canada Day I'm proudly displaying my beaver. (You'll find him on our nickel coin.)

Doubloon was suggested, but never took hold.

I saw a couple Nero Wolfe episodes from the A&E series. They seem as if they must be faithful to the stories; that dialogue sounds writerly. That is a very stylized and eccentric show. Are those qualities also true to Rex Stout? I am going to hunt for his books at library. Kindle prices are WAY too high.

Yes, they did capture most of the characters as Rex Stout wrote them.

That A&E series is addictive. Every new episode is REALLY new; I don't know which way an episode will jump, don't know what anyone will say. Maury Chaykin does heroic work with Wolfe's speechifying.

Have you read Linda Prather's, Bet You Can't ... Find Me? It's a mystery with a paranormal twist. Really clever plot and great writing. I think it's the best book I've read in 2012.

I haven't read any of the books, but a number of them have been adapted by BBC Radio, and they are great fun!

Are they available as eBooks?

EDIT: To answer my own question, it seems not. That's a pity.

I am intrigued. In what way does one's reading taste change after a meal? Possibly losing interest in cookbooks and restaurant guides I can understand, but how else?

Maybe in the same way as it changes when you are tired since after a meal you usually become tired?

If it is a really good meal, one that leaves you satisfied and at peace with the world, you might be disinclined to read a downer book.

Never in my life have I considered that question. There probably is something to it, though.
